Enjoy the Great Outdoors on Okinawa’s Remote Island
Iriomote Island, located to the southwest of Okinawa Prefecture, is a remote island where 90% of the area is covered with pristine mangrove forests. Additionally, the incredibly beautiful coral island, Barasu Island, is located nearby. In this tour, you will experience SUP (Stand Up Paddleboarding) or canoeing in a river surrounded by mangrove trees, and go snorkeling around Barasu Island. Despite being just a six-hour tour, you will be able to fully enjoy the popular tourist activities on Iriomote Island.
The tour starts in the morning from the Uehara district, where the port on Iriomote Island is located. It is advisable to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting wet. The mangrove river is not very windy, making it enjoyable even for canoeing beginners. A local guide will also instruct you on snorkeling. The tour concludes in the evening, allowing for day trips from the nearby Ishigaki Island.
