A Day Trip to Nikko from Tokyo

Enjoy the World Heritage Site, Nikko Toshogu Shrine, and Nature

Nikko is a tourist destination located about 150km north of Tokyo. Here, you can find the Nikko Toshogu Shrine, a registered World Heritage site. The Toshogu Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate (1603-1867). Its precincts are home to many lavish wooden buildings, including the Yomeimon Gate shown in the photo above. If you are interested in traditional Japanese architecture, it would be a good idea to consider this tour among the first options for tours departing from Tokyo.

In addition to the Toshogu Shrine, Nikko offers a chance to enjoy stunning natural beauty. You can visit the Kegon Falls, which have a height of about 97 meters, the Irohazaka Winding Road, which is beautiful in autumn, and Lake Chuzenji, a beautiful lake surrounded by mountains.

This tour includes a chartered car trip from Tokyo to explore Nikko. Although you can also get to Nikko using JR or Tobu Railway from Tokyo, using a car will allow you to efficiently visit the famous sites.
