Learn About Life and Food: Hunting Experience Tour

Category: Hunting Experience Tour

Here’s an introduction to the “Learn About Life and Food: Hunting Experience Tour,” an exciting and educational hunting experience tour.

Location: Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan

[Hoshino Resorts] – Learn how to utilize deer leather from Yamanashi’s traditional crafts.

Hoshino Resorts, known for offering overwhelming and unique experiences at each of its facilities, presents “Hoshino-ya Fuji,” Japan’s first glamping resort. In 2023, on October 6th, November 3rd, and December 1st, they will be holding the “Learn About Life and Food: Hunting Experience Tour” for the third time. This tour allows participants to gain a deeper understanding of the act of receiving life by entering the forests of the northern foothills of Mt. Fuji together with local hunters and observing and experiencing hunting using traps. This year, they have added an experience of lacquering deer leather, allowing participants to learn about how living creatures become ingredients and traditional craft products, fostering thoughts on coexistence with nature and building a sustainable society.

The tour takes place in the forests surrounding the Fuji Five Lakes area. This region has an increasing number of deer and boars due to abundant food sources and limited human activity. The tour is guided by local hunters who are experts in hunting and also contribute to the production of high-quality hunting meat. To transform the hunted game into exquisite hunting meat, it requires not only hunting skills but also techniques such as proper bleeding, temperature control, and efficient processing. Participants will have the opportunity to closely observe and experience the entire process of hunting while hearing about the dedication and commitment to producing top-quality hunting meat from these skilled hunters. Starting this year, participants will also learn about the utilization of deer leather, which often goes to waste. By witnessing and experiencing the process from hunting to processing, participants will deepen their understanding of the act of receiving life.
