Explore the primeval forest created by a volcanic eruption
In the northwest part of Mount Fuji, there is a vast primeval forest known as “Aokigahara Jukai.” Aokigahara Jukai was formed 1200 years ago during a major volcanic eruption. Although not many Japanese people have ventured into this primeval forest in the past, it has recently become popular as an adventure spot. On this tour, you will walk through the forest with an experienced English-speaking guide and explore the caves within it.
At the foot of Mount Fuji, many caves were formed during the eruption. The temperature inside some of these caves can drop below freezing, and they were used as storage houses during the Edo period. On this tour, participants will enter large, already explored caves. Necessary equipment such as helmets, flashlights, and gloves will be provided in advance.
