In the frigid depths of Okuchichibu, the illuminated ice pillars create a fantastical world. As the illumination takes place during the cold winter nights, it’s important to dress warmly when visiting.

“Misotsuchi Ice Pillars” Illumination
One of Okuchichibu’s winter highlights, the “Misotsuchi Ice Pillars” (みそつちのつらら) showcases nature’s artistry, where icicles are formed from clear spring water.

“Misotsuchi Ice Pillars” Illumination Period: From January 14, Reiwa 5 (Saturday) to February 23, Reiwa 4 (Thursday)
[Weekdays]: 17:00 – 19:00, [Saturdays, Holidays]: 17:00 – 20:00

The period may change depending on the condition of the icicles.
“Ootaki Ice Festival” Period: From January 7, Reiwa 5 (Saturday) to February 23, Reiwa 5 (Thursday, Holidays)
Time: 8:30 – 17:00

The period may change due to weather conditions.
Location: Misotsuchi Ice Pillars, Ootaki, Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture
