Yokohama Walking Guide Tours with Hospitality Center Staff (Free)

Introducing free guided city tours in Yokohama, led by welcoming staff from the Tourism Information Center. These tours are designed for both Japanese and foreign tourists, offering insights into Yokohama’s architecture, history, and trivia.

Location: Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan

Tour Details:

  • Public Interest Incorporated Foundation Yokohama Convention & Visitors Bureau (Yokohama City, Naka Ward) has been offering “Yokohama Walking Guide Tours” since July 2023. These walking tours allow participants to explore various tourist spots in Yokohama, meet local experts who are passionate about the city, and engage in conversations. The tours are available in Japanese for Japanese participants and in English for foreign tourists. Ten tours for each group are planned until March 2024.

Japanese Participants Tour (Conducted in Japanese):

  • Held on weekdays in the morning
  • Departs from Minatomirai Line’s “Motomachi-Chukagai” Station
  • The planned route covers Hotel New Grand, Yamashita Park, Nihon Odori Street, Yokohama Stadium, Kannai, and concludes at Isezaki Mall.
  • Distance: Approximately 2.5 kilometers

Foreign Tourists Tour (Conducted in English):

  • Held on weekends and holidays in the evening
  • Departs from “Sakuragicho Station Tourist Information Center” near the south exit of Sakuragicho Station
  • The planned route includes visits to Isesaki Shrine, Yokohama Nigiwai-za Theater, Noge-cho, Tohashi Shotengai Shopping Street, and concludes at Isezaki Mall.
  • Distance: Approximately 2 kilometers

The tours are guided by the staff of Sakuragicho Station Tourist Information Center, who won first place in the “Multilingual Communication, Hospitality, and Proposal Skills Enhancement” category at the 2022 Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) Certified Tourist Information Center Awards. These staff members deeply love and understand Yokohama and aim to share their knowledge and affection for the city with the participants.

  • Tour Name: Yokohama Walking Guide Tours (Approximately 80 minutes)
  • Capacity: 10 participants per tour (Advance reservations required; please refrain from canceling after two days before the event)
  • Participation Fee: Free (Participation in a short post-tour survey is mandatory)

  • August 24 (Thursday)
  • August 28 (Monday)
  • September 21 (Thursday)
  • Tour Starts at 10:00 AM (Meeting at 9:50 AM)

Foreign Tourists Tour:

  • August 19 (Saturday)
  • September 2 (Saturday)
  • September 9 (Saturday)
  • Tour Starts at 4:00 PM (Meeting at 3:50 PM)
